FDXMS286 is an XMS manager for computer systems running with a 80286 or higher processor. On 286 it supports a maximum of 16MB RAM/XMS, on 386 or higher it supports up to 64MB

FDXMS286 is the only XMS manager for FreeDOS that can run on a 286 system.

This driver, written by Martin Stromberg, needs to be loaded from 1 of the configuration files that the kernel can find: FDCONFIG.SYS or CONFIG.SYS

Load it in the following way:

DEVICE=[PATH\]FDXMS286.SYS

If the driver loads, it's recommended to use the following other settings: DOS=HIGH

and use the COMMAND.COM version that is able to store most of itself into XMS.
